Let us discuss how to put a N-Male connector on the weBoost 400 cable. First make sure that you have all the parts available and set out, ready for use. Next, strip the cable to the required lengths. We can use a cable stripping tool. If you don't have a cable stripping tool, you can also strip the cable manually as long as there's about .5" of braid exposed and the center conductor is stripped, exposing at least .2".
Next, place the heat shrinkable tubing and the crimping cuff over the cable and slide it down a bit so that it is out of the way. Clip off any excess center conductor. Place the center pin over the center conductor and solder it to the center conductor using solder and a soldering iron. Then fold the braid of the shield back over the sheath of the cable. Place the connector assembly over the cable, sliding the center conductor through the guide on the connector and then slide the crimping ring over the wire braid.
Clip off any excess wire braids that protrude from beneath the crimping ring. Then, while holding the crimping ring in place, crimp the crimping ring to make sure the connector remains tight on the cable. We use a pneumatic crimper to crimp the cables. Slide the heat shrinking tubing over the connector, flush with the connector and use a heat gun to shrink the tubing over the cable and connector union. This helps the connector to be water tight and is important for long term use.
After shrinking the tubing, if you have done all these steps correctly, you should have a working N-Male connector on the end of your quality weBoost 400 cable. If you have any problems or questions about this installation or any other weBoost product, please feel free to give our technical support team a call. Thank you.
