Chatr is a wireless service provider in Canada with entry level customers as its target. The service offered by the company was launched on July 28, 2010. It primarily launched by limiting features of the plan only to particular regions of the network, which are often called as the "chatr zones".
Chatr Network Availability
The network of Chatr used to be based on zones, commonly called as chatr zones. With these zones, customers are provided particular services, which function only in a specific coverage area. When a customer leaves the designated zone, the services, including outgoing texts and voice minutes will only be available under a pay-per-use basis.
There are two ways in which a customer may identify whether or not he or she is still in the zone. First is by checking the coverage map while the other is by checking the account balance after calling. The good news, though, is that in 2015, Chatr has decided to eliminate the zone concept on all of the plans, which feature either provincial or Canadian long distance services. Right now, the zones are called as "Chatr local talk zones" which applies only to certain plans which does not have long distance.
Chatr 3G Signal Boosters
Chatr’s 2G (GPRS/GSM/EDGE) as well as its 3G (HSPA/UMTS) networks are running on similar frequencies, 850 and 1900 MHZ for both. This level is considered as the standard in all of North America. If you are not satisfied with the reception provided by Chatr, you can work by amplifying the networks with the help of dual-band Chatr cell phone signal boosters.
Chatr 4G HSPA+
As one of the major mobile communications provider in Canada, Chatr has also upgraded to HSPA+ network in 2009. The enhancement includes download speeds of up to 21 mbps. The network coverage is available in all of the provinces in Canada while none of the territories operate on 850 MHz. On the other hand, Saskatchewan’s network coverage is only limited to Saskatoon and Regina, otherwise covered only by the GSM Network.
Chatr 4G LTE
Chatr’s main provider Rogers Communications launched LTE network in Ottawa, Ontario on July 7, 2011, before it started to expand to other regions. The network had speeds of up to four or five times faster compared to other providers. The company has also deployed LTE service on the 2600 MHz spectrum, which the company introduced as LTE Max. As of March 2015, the company has also launched voice over LTE (VoLTE) and became the first company to provide this service.
If you currently own a 3G Chatr mobile, you can expect to receive only the standard signal coverage. However, with the use of a dual band signal booster, you can ultimately improve your signal. The same can happen with your 4G phone. On the other hand, if you have LTE network coverage, you can use a tri-band or a five-band booster, which can enhance coverage.
All signal boosting products listed will work to boost reception on all phones on Chatr cellular network. All the ones that state "3G" in their product name will amplify voice, text, and 3G data connections. All items that have "4G" listed in their name will amplify voice, text, 3G as well as 4G, 4G LTE, and 4G Advanced LTE wireless data connections to Chatr mobile towers.
