Are you having trouble with reception in your vehicle, or inside your home or workspace? A Mobilicity signal amplifier by weBoost can help eliminate dropped connections, improve voice quality, provide faster data uploads and downloads. It can also give you up to two hours additional talk time on a single battery charge. There's another great benefit that solutions available directly from Mobilicity cannot match - A Mobilicity reception booster by Wilson/ weBoost will also boost coverage for other cell phone carriers! That means that your friends, co-workers or family members who have cellular service with a carrier other than Mobilicity can also benefit from the boosted signal.
Mobilicity makes use of the UMTS IV band, which is referred to as AWS as well. This frequency band allows it to provide UMTS service coupled with HSPA data. The users’ equipment transmits at a frequency of 1710-1755MHz while receiving at 2110-2155MHz. this frequency is the same as with some other carriers in North America and Canada meaning that it is compatible with 3G handsets provided by these carriers as well. It is important to note that most of the user traffic on the Mobilicity network is mainly mobile broadband. Their network infrastructure, which was built back in 2009 is maintained by Ericsson.
Mobilicity is one of the smaller mobile networks serving five markets in Canada including Ontario, Edmonton, Gatineau, Calgary and Vancouver. Initially formed under the name DAVE Wireless, it was renamed to Mobilicity right before it was launched. Mobilicity comes about as a smart combination of the words mobility and simplicity. In June, 2015, Mobilicity was acquired by Rogers for $440 million CAD. In May 2016, Rogers announced it plans to retire the Mobilicity brand and migrate subscribers to its Chatr brand.
Mobilicity 3G Signal
Mobilicity provided 3G data as HSPA at 1700 MHz. Under this frequency, download speeds peaked at a theoretical maximum of 3.6 Mbit/s. It is important to note that customers who do not subscribe to the premium plan usually have their data speeds capped at 2 Mbit/s throughout and get lower speeds when they have exhausted their usage limit.
Mobilicity 4G Signal
Mobilicity upgraded their HSPA network to HSPA+ and marketed it to users as 4G back in 2012. Under this network, the previous theoretical maximum download speed of 3.6 Mbit/s was upgraded to a much faster theoretical speed of 21.1 Mbit/s. These significantly higher speeds under their 4G network are only accessible to users who have the premium plan or subscribe to add-ons. There are plans to expand the 4G network coverage to more areas covered by the network.
As it stands, Mobilicity does not yet have an LTE network. This does not seem to be in their current plans, as they try and expand their 3G and 4G coverage for the time being. The main reason for this is that they only have 10MHz of frequency to work with, which can only support one HSPA+ channel at most. To improve on this, they would need to acquire more bandwidth. However if it does decide to get LTE, then it will be in future most probably after the bigger mobile telecommunications players in Canada get one.
Mobilicity uses HSPA on the 1700 MHz frequency. This places a limit on the type of phones that can be supported on this network. What the above frequency means for users is that they have to choose a mobile handset that supports the 1700 MHz bandwidth to have a chance of using their network. These phones include tri-band and five-band phones. All of the five band Mobilicity cell phone signal boosters will work great to boost reception indoors or in vehicles.
All signal boosting products listed at three category links above will work to boost reception on all phones on Mobilicity cellular network. All the ones that state "3G" in their product name will amplify voice, text, and 3G data connections. All items that have "4G" listed in their name will amplify voice, text, 3G as well as 4G, 4G LTE, and 4G Advanced LTE wireless data connections to Mobilicity mobile towers.
