Union Wireless was formed with the sole focus of serving communities and people right from the start. The Union Telephone Company was formed in 1914 by John D. Woody in the heart of Mountain View, Wyoming. The telecommunications company is family operated and owned. It serves localities such as Northwestern Colorado, Wyoming, parts of Montana and Utah. Its huge regional wireless service of high-speed data and voice network is connected nationally with its roaming partners.
The telecom company has lots of towers across Wyoming, unequalled by any other wireless carrier, with the network growing monthly. Union Wireless offers mobile services, not only in rural areas, but also cities. It covers rural areas most wireless carriers have ignored. Beyond wireless services, Union still offers an elaborate high-speed internet for homes and landline telephone services in selected communities including 3G/4G LTE enabled phones.
After starting the Phone service in 1914, John D. Woody worked with his wife. She became the switchboard operator while John did phone installations. After serving in World War II, their son Howard joined the company. Around 1948, Howard wanted to sell Union to AT &T for just a dollar but AT&T refused to purchase it, claiming high cost on integration into its system. Howard gambled hard by taking a loan provided by REA (Rural Electrification Administration). He was able to upgrade equipment, physical plant and executed expansion plans. The investment continues to pay off to date. Union Wireless was conceived fully in the early 1990s as the carrier entered the cellular market. Today, Union also provides international coverage to its customers.
Currently Union Wireless has a presence in over 14 retail stores, employs over 300 people, served by tens of authorized agents and has over 300 towers it solely owns.
With the Union Wireless cell phone reception booster from weBoost and Wilson, you can access the carrier’s coverage from coast to coast and in between.
